Genre - Horror, Sci-Fi; Duration - 1 hour 51 M; Richard Stanley; reviews - When an iridescent meteorite plummets from outer space and into the property and foundations of a remote New England estate, a malignant force begins to insidiously permeate the lives of an unassuming family. The effects are gradual - time begins to dilate, nature assumes an otherworldly hue - and all things bright and beautiful eventually mutate and corrupt under its influence. So proceeds this eerie adaptation of the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, one of horror's most haunting, here presented by the enigmatic South African filmmaker Richard Stanley. Returning to Midnight Madness 29 years after his hypnotic killer-robot fandango Hardware first premiered in the section, Stanley summons his uniquely hallucinogenic sensibilities to envelope his endearing characters in surreal, incremental dread. At first, their domestic bliss is quietly fraught with an undercurrent of unnerving tension, before eventually boiling over into delirious, acid-fueled terror. The patriarch of this doomed brood is none other than Nicolas Cage, continuing his recent renaissance as a midnight-movie staple with an increasingly unhinged performance that reliably ricochets among every technique in the Stanislavski playbook. The rest of the ensemble, which includes Joely Richardson and Tommy Chong, play effective foils to Cage's delirium, but the real star of the show is the alien entity itself. This all-consuming, dispassionate menace manifests itself in a series of grotesque, body-horror, and psychedelic spectacles, worthy of its ineffable literary origins; creators - Richard Stanley; Liked It - 14280 Votes.
I loved this film. It feels far more local in scope than the short story did to me, but the short story didnt have Cage. It was a good rendition of the story, and it definitely had that Nicolas Cage film thing going on. But it also had me reminiscing of1980s version of the blob. Good stuff, should of had a wider release. So much for There must always be a Lich King...
After a twenty-three year hiatus from making feature films, Stanley returns with this faithful adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space." Mr. Stanley hits all the marks of a decent sci-fi/horror movie by making good use of editing, pacing, practical creature effects, and Nick Cage's madman persona. Tommy Chong is a solemn hoot as the town's "crazy man...
Whispers ever so gently ( PURPLE BOYYS
The verdict: Close, but no Shoggoth. Curios george never had a tail. Boja iz semiramis.
This looks like one of those fake YouTube movie trailers
That was the most awesome thing I ever saw in youtube. 🎶🎶🎶❤🎶🎶👌. Nicolas cage would portray Donald Trump perfectly if there ever was a movie about him. don't believe me? Watch this movie. Imagine what if saitama was there If u know what I mean. I love seeing more lovecraftian media. Games, movies. We need The Lurking Fear and At The Mountains of Madness In film form though. I had some expectations to this Lovecraft adaptation. But it is just boring and lame acting, boring and lame directing, boring and lame movie.
Nothing happens until half way into the movie.
And what happens, is the boy in the familiy, whistling in front of a well, when a colorfull bug suddenly crawls up from the well. Poor CGI by the way, and then again nothing. A lot of talking and no action.
This is no horror and no Sci-fi. This is crap.
I thought the thumbnail was her being bent over and screwed. I just cant get enough of hp lovecraft am i insane or just obsessed,i dont know i guess im just in love with this mans stories. Apple TV+ is free for like a whole year if anyone was wondering... 1:15 Oh Thats Nice, The Indominus Rex Is Out Again. Be sure to like, share, comment and subscribe.
No more ideas left for Hollywood but filming comicbooks
Yo wtf. it seems original movies are finally dead! all we get is reboots and franchise follow ups. Will watch for chong cameo lol. The daughters spell she cast in the beginning worked, the whole movie is a result of her messing with the Necrnomicon. This is what happens when LSD falls into the backyard. I love how every other comment is quoting Overly Sarcastic Productions Lovecraft video. Boja iz svemira. Someone show this to foundfix. I just got finished watching it... prob one of the best movies I've seen. Boja iz svemiran. “Not the color! Not the color! Aaaagggghhh!”. Why isnt it in the 1920-1930s.
5 years later: This movie is a Mandela Effect. Although derivative of the 2018 film Annihilation, The Color Out Of Space stands on its own. It's horrifying but humorous.
When under the influence of the Color, Nicholas Cage echoes his character from 1989's Vampires Kiss. If anyone's seen the 1989 film they'll notice Cage's meta-reprisal.
Cage always surprises. Cage is life.
Heavily layered with occult symbols and references. Did anyone notice the Gardner family (with a Wiccan daughter) shares a namesake with the founder of Wicca, Gerald Gardner.
Creepiest doll I ever saw.
“Maybe its a simulation and its freaking out” hmmmm
You know you are getting old when Ryan Reynold is the Oldest of the Group. YESSS This movie was my jam! I've been yearning for a faithfull Lovecraft adaptation and this was it for me! I need more of this.
